Never would I have believed that I was being duped by a friend that stood in my house and explained to me his business. Glyn’s explanations of how he started the DOD business were remarkable (or just stupidity on my part). My first question was why are you not going to a bank to secure a loan for this type of money. His response well the contracts are “no bid” and the money needs to go oversees quickly (going the bank route is to cumbersome). Not only knowing him and his wife through the school our kids attended and the sports I coached his son in, it was inconceivable that they would be scamming friends for money. But we all know how that ended up.

But what really kills me is the how this totally blindsided all of us and has caused financial and emotional damage to many families.

The thousands of dollars that have been stolen from my family and those closes to me have robbed us of opportunity. Opportunity that we have earned through hard, honest work. The stolen opportunities are countless- our children’s college tuition, retirement savings, home improvements, etc. This loss of money has forced my wife to return to work full-time. She has been working part-time for 7 years caring for our 3 children. Now she must return full-time to help cover the losses. As a result of this traumatic experience the choice for her to be at home caring for our children no longer exists. As the events have unraveled in the last few months the stress has overwhelmed our lives and impacted all members of our family including our children. We have experienced numerous sleepless nights, many arguments. This stress, anger and depression is a disease that has plagued our family. And to continually hear that he is still out there and possibly trying to scam other people (what else does he know how to do), hired the best lawyer (most of us can not afford because Mr. & Mrs GR have stolen most (if not all) of our savings) and is selling his house for close to $2 million dollars is disgusting. The law protects the SCUM BAGS in the world (only in America).

How do Glyn and Jen still sleep at night!!! Probably knowing that the millions of dollars they have stolen is hidden somewhere and can be used down the road when all this is over.

Wherever they move to I personally will inform the neighborhoods, the schools and the townships of their past and make their life’s a living hell. I know that most of us are reminded each month, when that bill comes in the mail, of what a mistake we made.

I have been asked so many questions – 1) how did you not know it was a scam? – 2) You were getting a great return on your investment – I would have known it was a scam. 3) Don’t you think greed played a factor in this whole thing?

My answer to the questions are simply I trusted a friend and was sold on the notion that I was helping him build a business from the ground up. Is it greed – I think not- to be able help a friend you believed in and build a financial future for you family is not greed.

I strive each day to build a future for my family both emotional and financially something Glyn can not comprehend because he has no idea what it is like to make an honest living. SEE YOU IN COURT SCUM BAG!!!!!!!!!

As justice is served it is our hope to restore emotional health to our family, rebuild future opportunities and move forward with our lives. It is our hope that Glyn and any one that has helped the dirt bag receive the maximum sentence, with no leniency granted. (As he has committed this crime before). As we search for the silver lining in this dark cloud, there are glimpse of light knowing that he will spend many years behind bars unable to inflict this pain on others.

My husband and I (I should say my children, too) are all victims of Glyn Richards. My husband was introduced to him by a mutual friend. When my husband explained the “investment” to me I was instantly skeptical. But he assured me that this guy was legit. At first the money came in but then it stopped and all we heard was one excuse after another…my friend died…my uncle died…I’m waiting on the DOD to send the check…the terror plot at Fort Dix delayed the check…blah, blah, blah. My husband would go to Glyn’s office in the morning and wait for him to show up for “work.” He fed my husband a bunch of bullshit every time. This man has destroyed us financially. I am a stay-at-home Mom who is now faced with having to go back to work and find someone to care for our four year old son and fourteen month old daughter. I have creditors calling day and night and in order to get out of this we might have to declare bankruptcy. All because of this evil man.

When I spoke to the Camden County prosecutor and the Lead Investigator they told me that more than likely none of us will get any money back. They haven’t found any and in my opinion they won’t because he spent all of it. The investigator told me,

“He lived a life that only you and I could dream about.”

Also, he’s divorced and has children from his first marriage. How could he do this to his children? Did his wife (or wives)know? It sickens me to think that he is walking around out there and a lot of us are suffering.

I am writing this blog not to make you feel bad for me but for the purpose of sharing my story with all of you as I really need a shoulder to cry on right now.

I met Glyn back in 2000. I was a manager at my current employer and one of my tasks was managing all of our freight. One afternoon, I got a fax flyer from his company at the time, Garden State Brokerage, Inc. I needed a quote for a shipment and Glyn gave me the best price. He did the delivery for me and from there, he became my exclusive carrier. Going forward, we became good friends, close enough that I met all of his family, attended Christmas parties at his house in Barrington, birthday parties, he came to my wedding in ’02, heck, he even took me to the Super Bowl in ’03! My wife and his got along real well and we had good times together, real good.  He would even refer to me as his little brother. I recommended his company to all of our biggest clients and he went on to make a boatload off shipments from these companies. Once I got a call from a company who he brokered freight to. The guy said Glyn did not pay his bills. He did a check on him and he said his Broker’s License was revoked and he was he biggest lier he knew. I took Glyn to task on this and he said the guy was full of crap because he was just waiting for a check. Of course I took Glyn’s side and I let it go.

Moving forward to 11/05. Glyn was bugging me to get into this DOD account. I was on the fence. I just sold my townhouse and with a wife pregnant with our first, we were looking for a home to raise a family in. The one we wanted was just a bit over our range. Glyn said by doing the DOD job, I can make plenty to afford the house of our dreams. Of course, I dove in and gave him the $75K that was the remainder of our sale of our previous home. At first, life was great! Was getting paid, living in our dream home! I was building up my wave of payments by reinvesting so in 2007, I would be getting HUGE monthly payments! So I refied my second mortgage so I could put more in(or moran). Now I had given him like $150K! I could taste financial freedom! Then, like us all, the payments stopped! Being that I was confident in Glyn’s work, I used up most of what I made in early payments, planning on backfilling with new payments to pay down the debt. Now I have huge debt that would only be paid by the so-called lifestyle I expected(again, I trusted my good friends). All of this while I changed careers, I have a wife tending to our new baby at home, and have payments and mortgages I can’t afford with just about no money left! I am literally waking up sick every mourning, wondering how I am going to make it without claiming bankruptcy! I am so demoralized, it’s hard to pick up and get going right now. I’m trying to find all kinds of extra work while I’m so disgusted which effects my whole day! My 11 month old daughter smiles at me and I can barely smile back right now! I’m scrambling for family to help out now, but of course that puts me in more debt. Bottom line is that sooner or later, I have to pick up the pieces and move on. We all have to! We all have to learn this horrific lesson of betrayal and deception. Besides loosing my shirt, I lost what I thought was such a good, caring, and helpful friend! The fact that I trusted him that much just turns the dagger in my chest! This will change my trust factor forever. It’s so hard to cope with this titanic loss of money and friendship. Just devastated now.

I successfully completed Glyn’s Term of $25,000 in, $36,000 out, once…

Checks deposited, everything was good. So I took my initial $25k and reinvested. At this point I told my ister and father about the deal. My father didn’t have a good feeling bout it, so he stayed out, however my sister had just received some money from some land that she sold. This was the first time my sister had come across a significant amount of money. About $33,000 total. She was more than excited to do this.

My sister has recently been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, on top of he other muscle tormenting disease she was born with. (I cannot recall he spelling of it. Something like MinusTheviousGravis) She is also a single mother of 3 children.

Glyn happily accepted his new gudgeon. He took my $25k and her $25k and gave us his hand typed contracts. Soon after I started getting word of shecks bouncing. Our first 2 checks were fine. Come month 2, I deposited my check, and mailed my sisters check to her. She lives 500 miles away. She deposited a few days later.

The next week I get a call from my sister saying the check bounced. I was furious! I spoke with Glyn and he sincerely apologized and issued out another check. This one cleared. Figuring this was just a gl(y)tch in the program, I continued to wait for the next installment of checks.

The next time they both bounced. They continued to bounce, until he decided to not give out checks for a while. My sisters medical bills were starting to pile up and I felt absolutely horrible about what I got her involved in, so I gave her the $18,000.00 that I had received. She knew it was my money and refused to take it, but I insisted and
deposited it into her account.

That was last November… I spoke with Glyn about 3 times a month from then until I read that he was arrested. I never received another check, but was promised to have the money “near the end of next week” for the past 36 weeks. That money was my life’s savings but at least my sister is taken care of. It was an expensive lesson to learn, but I have learned.

Our family was scammed by Glyn Richards.  I was introduced to him back in November of 06, he seemed trustworthy and I felt he wanted to help us out.  I asked different people who were involved and they all had positive experiences and were making good money on their investments. I had taught Glyn’s older son and I believed he was sincere when he said he wanted to help me out in part for being good to his son.  I took a risk by taking equity out of our home, at the time I felt confident I was making the right decisions.  Along with myself, my brother-in-law invested with Glyn at the same time, he had to take the equity in his house and borrowed a lot of money.  Around January of 07 we were supposed to get out first check, but Glyn explained to me on many occasions that the government was holding funds, and this is exactly what we were reading in the papers and hearing on the news.  We both received a check around March and Glyn told us to hold it for 10 days since he was receiving a large check in the next few days.  (Now I know that he said that a lot).  I never felt that it was a red flag because Glyn explained it and I felt comfortable.  In my mind I totally disregarded that check that I never benefited from as part of the delay.  I was blinded by his lies and now have questioned many things that occurred over the last 8 months.  As the next few months went on, we still received no checks, it was hard to deal with since we were paying so much extra in interest each month, but I figured we would struggle for a few months and then it would all pay off.  The fact that our family (2 small kids as well), lost this money is a hard pill to swallow, and knowing my brother in law is in the same situation makes it that much harder.  When it is all said and done it is just money and although it sets us back for many years we will get through it.  It has also made it even more clear how important my wife and kids are to me.  The part that makes me even more sick is the fact that I introduced Glyn to a very good friend of mine.  I was excited about the chance to put our family ahead and I wanted his family to benefit as well.  My friend, his wife, and 2 kids are obviously struggling with this and it tears me up everyday.  I know there will probably be a strain in our relationship, due to the magnitude of the situation and since there were things that occurred that we should have discussed, but at the time I just believed in what we were doing.  That just makes the whole situation even worse.  In May of 07 I talked about this with my father, since the prospect of helping my parents future retirement was intriguing.  The only reason I didn’t get him involved (thank God!) was that towards the end of May and the beginning of June things started getting really weird.  I think about this very day and it is hard to focus on everyday life.  Glyn Richards has hurt a lot of families, hopefully everyone involved will be able to dig themselves out of this mess.

I was already invested with Glyn Richards before I even met him. He was a real good friend of my real good friend. They knew him a little from Barrington, but more from Voorhees. His reputation was crystal clear to people in Voorhees. I had met his wife and kids a few times, and they were lovely people. Everything checked out. I made an investment with him. It started OK, but fell apart. Some of my other friends were involved too. It seemed for a change. at first, I was going to make some money off my money! My first contract with him, I assembled some of my friends too. So, when he paid me in paper “contract money” and rolled me into a new contract…I paid them, my friends, in real money. I turned his phony money into real money, and GAVE it to my friends, (thinking it was the profit that they “made”).

You know how he PRETENDED to be a hot shot and give money that was his (really ours)?

Well in my case I really did it. I gave some of my friends that were in contracts with me money, only at the time I did not realize that is what I was doing. I thought I’d eventually get it from Glyn…eventually never happened. So when I went to the cops they saod I am owed one figure which they got by totaling what I gave GR minus what he gave me. But really, I am down much, much more because my friends got money that I gave them based on his phony baloney profit. Even if Glyn WAS to pay restitution, (he won’t) I would not see the money I shelled out for him. I’d get my checks “in”, minus his checks “out.” I hope I am explaining it well, but that is what makes this a giant shitburger in addition to all the other reasons. Lots of us have given money to our friends that were in contracts thinking in time we were getting it from Glyn. In time never happened.

The friends got in, got out, one contract, made a small profit. I paid them a check of mine for real money (unlike GR, my checks don’t bounce), and Glyn reinvested me in what I later found out was total nonsense. That is what sux. I am getting twice ripped off. Once by Glyn, once, unwittingly, by friends that invested through me. I am not suggesting I want the money back from my friends, I don’t. It just is what it is. I don’t even think about it anymore. But the last year I spent at home, doing nothing broke as shit, I thought about it all the time and it really wore me down. Then I drew a line in the sand and said, f-it. It’s only money. You learned a lesson. Glyn will hopefully be learning a bigger one when he goes to jail. And then when he gets out and tries to run this scam again. He will have to ship himself to Iraq, because maybe people there will have not heard of him and his scams. But if you are in America, and you have Google…you’ll know what this guy is up to if he asks you for money! And that makes the horrible financial lesson I learned worth it…

We too were scammed by our family “friend” Glyn Richards. We met the richards back in 2004. Spent many weekends them, went to their parties, and our children played together. In the fall of 2005 GR approached my husband (very discreetly) about investing with his company to help him afford contracts with the DOD. Thinking this is a friend, who we trust, my husband had no reason not to invest. sounded like a good deal. Good deal lasted until august 2006 when we rolled over $$ and never got a cent back. I took all my $$ out of my 401k for this, thinking we’d have more $$ to invest elsewhere when GR didn’t need help anymore.

Well, now we have no 401k $ and only bill among bill to deal with. Our lifestyle(not that we were anywhere close to rich before this) has had to change. The lifestyle we were providing for our children had to change. One of the worst parts of this whole shitty situation is we brought a very good friend into it with us. He is also suffering from the position GR knowingly put us all in.

How GR had no conscious is beyond me. Ok we were just his friends, BUT he has ruined the lives of his family. What kind of man does that – EXACTLY – a real man wouldn’t.

My heart goes out to all others who have been involved in this horrible situation.
