30 Years!!!

June 29, 2009

Glyn Richards was sentenced to 30 years today in court.  The ordeal for many of us officially comes to a close, but for him is just beginning.   That is more then the even 10 to 15 we had hoped he would get.   Judge Bumb decided to give a very hefty, and very meaningful sentence.

That means that your stories were heard.  On the news, in the paper, in letters to the courts, and in court today, the victims of this crime were heard.

I’d like to thank each and every one of you that contributed here.  If you submitted, if you posted, or even if you just read– you increased exposure to this horrible crime, and in the end, helped shed light on just how much damage Glyn Richards did.

I’d like to also thank those courageous enough to tell their story on the news and in the newspapers.   At the time they were ridiculed, called stupid, and faced a barrage of  anonymous posters saying, “it would never happen to me.”  They were trivialized as greedy people getting what they deserved.

Well the Judge didn’t see it that way today.  She saw it for what it was.  Crime.  And a very serious one.  Thirty years worth.

For me?  This officially closes the Glyn Richards chapter of my life.  I will continue to work at forgiving myself for letting it happen.   Forthose of you that were so horribly affected by this, best of luck.  In time Glyn Richards will be a tiny memory in our lives, but he will have the rest of his life in prison to remember what he did to every one of you.

Glyn and Your Taxes

February 14, 2009

taxgAs I sit in front of TURBO TAX DELUXE, I recall several mentions of what you can do on your tax return regarding this mess.  Is this something we should be filing now?  Or is this something we have to wait until he is officially sentenced?

I wanted to start this thread to collect tax information and share information on this topic.  After we get some responses I have a new entry of Glyn’s arrest photo, the photos of his Tampa bay “HIDE-OUT,” and the electronic billboard that was used to find him in sunny, FLA.  There was also a reward offered, but I am not sure if that was claimed.

On the topic of Florida, big thanks to the fine, fine folks of the Hillsborough County Sheriffs Officefor catching our favorite fugitive.  He was there just long enough to get a little color and probably to catch the SuperBowl.

FBI seeks help to find con man

January 28, 2009

In an article today, the FBI is seeking help finding our favorite scam artist.   Anyone with information should call the FBI at (215) 418-4000 or their local police department.

This blog has followed Glyn Richards closely over the course of his arrest, and more then one poster has suggested Glyn Richards might be a “flight risk” due to the length of his sentence, the level of his deception, and the possibility he could have stashed some of the funds he stole in his ponzi scam.

Turns out some of those posters were right.  Glyn Richards has missed his latest court appearance and is no where to be found.   Again, anyone with information to Glyn’s whereabouts should call the FBI at (215) 418-4000 or their local police department.

In addition, if anyone has recent pictures of Glyn, we will post them here as well.

Glyn Richards Sentencing 1-20-2009

January 12, 2009

del1
FINALLY, Glyn Richards will be in court.  His sentencing is scheduled for January, 20, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. before Judge Renee Bumb in Camden, NJ.  I have no idea what we can excpect  as I’ve never really been in a situation like this.  My hope is that I see him hauled away in an orange jumper, locked into a cell, and kept out of society for 10-20years.  I am learning from this case, however, what I want to happen, and what happens– are rarely the same thing.  So, I have very low expectations.

In fact, I doubt I will even go.  That part of my life is a giant mistake that I have put behind me.  And yes, I hope for many years of incarceration for Mr. Richards so other felons can put things in HIS BEHIND… but more then anything I am just over it.  But going to court that day is him taking from me again.  I’d rather not waste the vacation/sick day.  I’d rather not beat myself up again that I was “that stupid.”  I’d rather not relive in my head, how much different my life would be had I not lost all that money.

I lost it.  It’s not coming back…  Life goes on.

I hope Judge Bumb sees fit to take some of his life away and put him away for a long time.  Sorry to those that were affected by this case.  I hope you all recover and finally get some closure.  If for some reason he cuts some deal and walks, take solace that until he changes his name, he will have trouble stealing from anyone that has GOOGLE!!

BLOG REQUEST!
Please refrain from using real names other then GLYN.  And please leave the comments about his children off the boards.   I was asked to not have comments about his children on the board and I agreed.   So please, no kids stuff!   Thanks!  If you are a reader of the blog, and you feel a post goes against this policy and mentions someone other the Glyn, by name,  in a way that is inflamatory, threatening, or in poor taste, please cut and paste the post, email it to the email in the right column, and it will be taken down.

Glyn Richards Back in the News

June 24, 2008

It seems that Glyn Richards was back in court on Monday… (Read the links below from the Courier Post and Inquirer). Many thanks to the investigators, local police, Camden County Prosecutors Office, the FBI, and the court, specifically, U.S. District Judge Renee M. Bumb, that raised Glyn’s bail to $350,000. (Takes a Bumb to know a BUM!!). These people work hard to make sure that people like Glyn Richards pay for their crimes. A big THANK YOU for all your hard work!

bsBUT!!?!?! How a person that is millions in debt, with no viable LEGAL income will make restitution to these victims is hard for me to fathom! Do not fall for more of Glyn’s stories, you are never going to see your $$ again. Your consilation prize is him in jail a very long time.

Glyn Richards Arrested Again

June 12, 2008

There were a few rumors last week via the blog that Glyn had once again found himself on the wrong side of the law. I got a few emails that he was arrested for driving a stolen vehicle. I searched the local papers, The Courier Post and the Philadelphia Inquirer, and found no mention of Glyn Richards, Glen Richards, Glenn Richards, or any remotely similar name. BUT, just this morning, I got an email that was kind enough to send me a scan of the article, and sure enough Glyn Richards was arrested again, and bailed out, again. I find that this arrest really creates more questions for me then it answers. (Questions like…How are people still posting bail for this guy, why does a paper that puts him on the SUNDAY COVER last year, not even mention his next arrest, why and how are people sueing him for property outside the investigation that is pending, etc. etc.?). But whatever. The Haddon Heights Shiester is once again facing arrrest charges.

Here is the article from the police blotter in local weekly newspaper “The Retrospect” from their June 6th edition.

Wesley Snyder: Another Ponzi Scam

May 30, 2008

Since I spend a load of time commuting, I listen to an awful lot of KYW 1060.  I “give them 22 minutes” as they say, and they “give me the world.”  22 whole minutes of it.  Basically what they give is what they conisder to be the top news events of the day.  National news, local news, and anything in between.  The last few weeks on more then one occasion, I have heard reports of another PONZI SCAM.  This one was in PA, (Montgomery, Chester, Berks, and Bucks Counties) and used mortgages as its scam.  It is alleged that Wesley Snyder has been an operator in a scam that was in the $40 million range before it collapsed.  Apparently Wesley Snyder, like our Glyn Richards, is not new to allegations of decieving investors.  The  88-page complaint in the Berks County Court of Common Pleas, by Attorney General Tom Corbett is at least the fourth lawsuit seeking restitution for victims of Wesley A. Snyder and his Berks County companies.  (Read full Philadelphia Inquirer story here.)

I will watch this closely as I know what these people are going through.  For those of you that love to speculate about the inner circle of a scammer and how they are held responsible, according to this story his wife and several employees are also facing a civil lawsuit.  I will also watch closely as I will be curious to see how the wheels of justice move in another state in regards to a ponzi scam.  Good Luck to those of you that were duped.
